Raw material & ingredient

Oud

Oud or agarwood is one of the most luxurious and expensive raw materials in the world. It is produced when the Aquilaria tree is infected by a specific fungus, reacting with a dark, aromatic resin of dense, woody, animalic, smoky, and balsamic scent.

Olfactory note: Oud

Behavior in formulation

How does the ingredient behave?

It is an extremely potent and persistent base note. It dominates compositions and adheres strongly to fabrics and skin. In Western perfumery, it is typically balanced with rose, saffron, or creamy woods to soften its power.
